I sleep in a little, content to be residing in the pine forest and in a dry tent. It feels wonderful to be hiking through the forest and then open moorland. The sun appears and a light breeze runs over the open space. I see no one for a long time and hike in solitude.
I reach an old railway and the wind picks up, thankfully it’s from behind so it encourages me to hike on. The railway ends at Blakeley Ridge where the Lion Inn – a popular restaurant resides. If I was camping nearby I would have stopped for tea but it’s only just after lunch. I am so close to finishing my hike and anticipant being back home in 24hours.
Following the road, I alternative between tracks, footpaths and the road before disappearing back into the moors. The afternoon rain soon finds me and it decides to stay for the remainer of the evening. I pass through Glaisdale and need to find somewhere to pic my tent. A forest appears on the other side and I venture up into the hills on either side. There aren’t many flat spots so a settle for an alcove of wet leaves with boulders on either side. My tent only just fits and I dive inside, pleased to not be hiking and able to remove my wet clothes. I’m in my sleeping bag for 7:30pm zzzZZZ.
