Making Lemon Wine

Wine recipe taken from 500 Recipes Home-Made Wines & Drinks by Marguerite Patten

  • 12 large lemon 🍋
  • 1 gallon of water
  • 1 Demijohn or your preferred container

    To each gallon of water:
  • 3lb. of sugar
  • 1/2 oz. of wine yeast

    Method
    1. Slice the lemons.
    2. Pour over the boiling water & leave for 3 days to infuse.
    3. Strain off liquid into a demijohn, add sugar & yeast & leave to ferment in a warm place
    Ideally – 18°C – 254°C or 65°F to 75°F
    5. When it stops bubbling, stir well and leave for a further 3 days for the sediment to settle.
Mine took several weeks to stop bubbling so it can take a while.
    6. Strain liquid into a bottles and wait for a year.
I ended up with just over 5 bottles and I’ll report the results in a few months time ☺️
    ~ Enjoy
