With 4 days off work, I decided to head to the Brecon Beacons and Max came along too.
It was forecast to be the hottest day of the year (so far) so we were looking for somewhere with water.
We arrived at midday, had a quick lunch and set off into the heat. Thankfully there was a breeze which brought the temperature down but I could feel the heat easily sitting in the mid 20s if not higher.
We arrive at a reservoir where a few people were milling about. We had opted to head to another reservoir nearby but decided to stay put. Heading a little further into the valley, we arrived at a secluded spot and spent the day swimming, reading, relaxing and doing very little 😀
For tea, Max had brought some American ration packs (MREs) for us to try….which tasted very processed and left us hungry and pitying anyone having to survive on those “meals”.
When dusk hit, we deployed Max’s lavvu and the inner bug net which was bliss as when the wind dropped, the midges descended.
We slept well and woke to low cloud obscuring the edges of the nearby hills. The midges quickly returned and we packed up swiftly. Bidding a final farewell we were on the road just before 8am.
